I’ve raised two sons. Built businesses. Lost people. Lost myself. Loved men who couldn’t communicate without turning it into a hostage negotiation.
And somehow ended up wiping asses for a living. 😂
Fashion designer turned vårdbiträde — Healthcare Assistant.
Carrie Bradshaw had Manolos. I’ve got compression socks and somebody else’s dentures.
Same existential crisis. Different footwear.
But working in elderly care does something to you.
You see your own future.
The woman I’m helping into bed wasn’t born old.
Maybe she hated her stomach. Cried over an idiot. Stayed too long because starting over was terrifying.
FUCK. I KNOW THAT WOMAN.
I’ve BEEN that woman.
Waiting until I’m thinner.
Richer.
Happier.
Less of a fucking mess.
Waiting for a man to choose me when I should’ve been choosing myself.
I’ve spent more time worrying about what people think of my body than actually ENJOYING living in it.
Meanwhile, I’m helping people who’ve lived extraordinary lives put on their socks.
And suddenly my cellulite isn’t a national emergency.
Neither is being single.
Or starting over at 48.
You know what scares me?
Getting to 85 and realizing I spent my best years apologizing for being too loud, too emotional, too old, too fucking MUCH.
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
I’m wearing the short skirt.
Taking the selfie.
Eating the cake.
Leaving when I’m unhappy.
And I’m not saving my sexy underwear for a man who can’t find the clitoris OR his emotional maturity. 💀
Life is short, babe.
Your ass will sag.
Your boobs will migrate.
And one day somebody might help you wipe that fabulous ass.
SO USE IT WHILE YOU CAN. 😂
