I HAVE GIVEN GROWN MEN MORE SECOND CHANCES THAN I GIVE MYSELF BATHROOM BREAKS AT WORK. 💀
And THAT, ladies, is a fucking problem.
I’m 48. I’ve raised two sons. Built businesses. Survived heartbreak. Started over.
And somewhere along the way, I apparently confused being a loving woman with running a 24-hour emotional emergency department.
No appointment necessary.
No accountability required.
Just walk in, fuck up my peace, and expect complimentary understanding. 😂
BABE. WE’RE CLOSED.
Here’s the irony.
I’m a vårdbiträde — Healthcare Assistant.
I spend my shifts helping people shower, get dressed, eat, use the toilet and feel safe.
I clean up messes. I listen. I comfort. I show up.
Even when I’m exhausted.
Because people depend on me.
But somewhere in my personal life, I started treating grown men like they needed the same level of assistance.
Explaining basic respect.
Reminding them how communication works.
Making excuses for behavior they were perfectly capable of changing.
And waiting for apologies that apparently require a fucking search warrant.
I have literally helped people with dementia communicate more clearly than some emotionally unavailable men I’ve dated.
And the people with dementia have an actual medical reason. 💀
Here’s what finally clicked.
COMPASSION IS NOT THE SAME AS SELF-ABANDONMENT.
Understanding someone’s struggles doesn’t mean volunteering to become collateral damage.
You can love someone.
You can forgive someone.
You can even wish them well.
WITHOUT GIVING THEM UNLIMITED ACCESS TO YOUR LIFE.
I’m still kind.
Still compassionate.
Still the woman who will hold a stranger’s hand when they’re frightened.
But I am no longer accepting applications for unpaid emotional rehabilitation.
My empathy is not a free fucking subscription.
And my peace is not a charity.
If you’re a woman who’s spent years understanding everyone except herself…
BABE. CLOCK OUT. ✌️💋
What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever excused in the name of love?
