I’VE MET SOME ABSOLUTE FUCKING LEGENDS WHILE CHANGING DIAPERS. 💀🪩

Journalists. Political reporters. Professors. Authors. Poets. Singers. Songwriters.

People who’ve mingled with ABBA, met presidents, travelled the world and lived lives many of us are still DREAMING of.

And where do I hear these stories?

Changing sheets. Helping someone shower. Changing diapers.

EXCUSE ME. YOU DID FUCKING WHAT?! 😂

Me? I studied Fashion Art & Design, built businesses, raised two sons and watched my own life spectacularly implode.

Then took a ten-week summer job in elderly care.

Over a year later, I’m still here. 💀

A substitute vårdbiträde — Healthcare Assistant — meeting people whose stories could fill entire libraries.

Some have dementia.

Some know me. Others meet me like it’s the first time.

Some tell me the same incredible story again. And again. AND AGAIN.

Sometimes their families fill in the missing chapters.

And you know what?

TELL ME AGAIN.

Tell me once. Tell me a thousand fucking times.

Because we spend our lives trying to become SOMEBODY.

Building careers. Falling in love. Raising families. Chasing dreams.

Then one day we might need help going to the toilet.

And suddenly people see what we can no longer DO instead of everything we’ve DONE.

But these people aren’t former somebodies.

THEY STILL ARE SOMEBODY.

And one day, that might be me.

An old lady with questionable fashion choices, ridiculous stories and absolutely no intention of shutting the fuck up. 😂🩷

Maybe I’ll forget the stories I’ve spent my life creating.

I just hope somebody still wants to hear them.

So ask your parents. Your grandparents.

Who did you love? What was your wildest adventure?

And if they tell you again tomorrow?

LISTEN AGAIN.

Because forgetting a story doesn’t make it less worth telling.

And needing care doesn’t make somebody less extraordinary. ❤️

What’s something about an older person you love that strangers would NEVER guess?
